Bernardo Pereira

Bernardo Campos Pereira is an architect (University of Waterloo, Canada 1996), advisor for cycling infrastructure projects, planning and policy to Lisbon and other municipalities and organisms in Portugal. He is a PhD candidate at Universidade de Aveiro (2017-2021), researching cyclists’ coalitions and how they have shaped urban cycling through their impact on public policy formulation and implementation.

Bernardo’s professional practice has provided experience and qualitative insights into the broad-based cyclists’ coalition and its interactions. Quantitative data analysis regarding bicycle-use in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area over the last decade is also being researched for greater insights into how governance mechanisms work in the policy development process, and how these influence outputs and outcomes for mode change, underpinning the cycling revival being experienced in this large city area over the last decade.
