Johanna Höffken

Dr. Johanna Irene Höffken, SUM member of the TU Eindhoven collaboration with China, is Assistant Professor in the Transition and Sustainability division of Technology, Innovation, and Society at Eindhoven University of Technology Group. Her dissertation (Maastricht University 2012) focused on civic engagement in the context of renewable energy development and mobilized ethnographic field research methods in the Asian context. She combines expertise in ethnographic methods with an empirical interest in both governance and user-technology dynamics as they unfold in Asia. Her current research, funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) includes ethnographic studies in India, where she looks at user-technologies interactions and governance in the energy sector. She was a research fellow in the Program on Science, Technology, and Society at Harvard University.
